June 26, 2017 TMC Show A Success!!!

A message from the President:

Hello TMC!!

What a great show we had on Monday!! I wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped make the show a success. Also thank you to the members who weren't able to play but still attended to show support for the other performers!! We had a great turnout and we hope we can continue to grow!

I want to remind everyone that there will be a "Summer" theme for the July show (I believe Gil brought this up during the show on Monday). If you are a performer for July, I am asking that you try to find songs that remind you of summer. This could include music from specific bands such as The B-52's, Bananarama, Jack Johnson, Chubby Checker...

OR

You can choose to play songs from different artists such as Summertime, Sittin on the Dock of the Bay, Me and Julie Down by the Schoolyard, Wipeout, Saturday in the Park, Under the Boardwalk... the list is endless.

In order to help make this successful, please provide me with a list of songs you are interested in performing by next week so we can make sure that everyone won't be playing the same songs. I also want to remind everyone that in order for the shows to run smoothly, we must limit the performers set to 20 minutes per set which usually equals 4-5 songs. If you go over the time limit by a few minutes, it's not a big deal. However, if this becomes a habit, we will ask that you not sign up for future performances until you are able to follow these simple rules. If you aren't aware that your set is going into someone else's, don't worry, I'm not shy. I'll let you know that your time is up.

If you have questions about how to sign up for the next month's performance slot, the following is what we have been doing for over six months and it tends to be working.

Let's say that you were interested in playing during the July showcase. In order to sign up for July, you would need to attend June's performance to show support for the musicians who were playing. Around 8pm, myself or another board member will walk around with a sign-up sheet and you would need to write down your name and information. The reason we do this is because we want all the members at every performance, even if you aren't scheduled to play, to come out and support the other performers.

Since we already have the July set filled, please show up for this performance and let us know that you would like to play in August. If you are scheduled to play in July, and want to play again in August, you will have to wait to sign-up until after the members who didn't get to play during July. If the slots are full, you will have to wait until the next month to sign up again.

Board members, I'm sure that I'm forgetting something so please add any additional information.
